As part of our Pollination Corridor we like to keep an eye on its accessibility to ensure all that use it are unimpeded.

We are fortunate to have many lovely walks in and around Clonmel. A number of these run along the river or one of our many parks. As with all plants, growth goes on regardless of any activity and the Blueway between The Quay and Sir Thomas’s Bridge is a case in point. Every Saturday morning Park Run holds its 5km event where participants run or walk the five km. Keeping the Blueway clear of stray brambles, nettles etc is important for these events to work successfully. We, along with the Council Grounds staff regularly check the walk to ensure it is unimpeded.

This section of the Blueway is part of the Pollination corridor that surrounds the town from the Cahir Road Roundabout to the Moangarrif Roundabout and along the river, crossing over to the south side at the Gas House Bride and back to the north side at the Presentation Convent Bridge. Keeping paths clear for pedestrians, cyclists and runners is a very important way of bringing people along these routes experiencing the biodiversity from birdsong to blooms whether they mean to experience it or not.

Working in conjunction with a busy Borough Council often means we find jobs for categories that do not impinge on their work. This has provided us with plenty of work. We have on occasion been joined by the Scout Venturers. The Blueway along the river is a popular running venue with the local Parkrun so keeping it clear of brambles is extremely helpful to them.
