This sustainable project involves capturing, storing and reusing rainwater for use in our Orchard at McDonagh Crescent.

Our water collection system at the orchard at McDonagh Crescent is working well. The three containers have collected water that will hopefully get us through any extended dry spells. We are looking at the dispersal of the water and while using a bucket works for now, we will try and envision something more integrated. The tarp from the old Museum sign is also working well, keeping the growth of algae at bay.

Last year we began a project to harvest rainwater on one of our sites, The Orchard at McDonagh Crescent. While plans were made and models built, it wasn't quite the success we had hoped it would be. The generosity of the community in allowing us to access water on the hottest of days was much appreciated but we really wanted the project to be self-sustaining so we went back to the drawing board. This year we have reimagined the project and come up with a new plan. We hope this one will be more successful.
This project offers an eco-friendly alternative to traditional water sources such as ground and surface water. The rainwater harvesting process involves the installation of a collection system using IBC storage tanks that capture and store rainwater. By reducing reliance on traditional water sources, this project can help conserve water resources and reduce the overall environmental impact of water usage.
